The KSVRC raises awareness of sexual violence as a social issue entrenched in a gender-based power dynamics and contributes to establishing a legal framework for equality and human rights. It has extended counseling services and support for over 88,000 sexual assault victims (as of 2021). Such efforts lead a paradigm shift that redefines the oppressed experiences of women and sexual minorities, who have been passively objectified, as instances of sexual violence.

The KSVRC’s affiliated "Open Shelter" has been in operation since 1994 as a welcoming refuge that is "always open to all women who have experienced sexual violence and serves as a launching pad for new horizons in survivors’ lives." Any woman who has experienced sexual violence is welcome to shelter there, and the Open Shelter provides diverse forms of support to aid survivors in their journey toward daily recovery and self-sufficiency. Notably, the monthly "Again, Our Gathering" facilitates solidarity between those who have left the shelter and individuals reintegrating into society.

SIITA has sponsored the Open Shelter with a donation of KRW 50 million worth of funds and essential supplies to ensure that women who have endured persistent sexual violence can live safely away from the abusive environment. Additionally, Siita has created and donated independent kits to help those who have left the shelter regain their independence.

SIITA’s goal is to provide unwavering support for the everyday recovery and pursuit of self-sufficiency by survivors who have faced the challenges of sexual violence. We aspire to become a strong support system in various aspects of life, encompassing nutrition, healthcare, culture, education, vocational training, emotional well-being, and more.
